Google Developers Group (GDG) Njikoka is a community that strives to distribute Google-related knowledge in Anambra state, Nigeria. It is a meeting place for Google users to share resources, get information, expand Google technology expertise and increase networking.
It is an interactive group that brings students, software users, mentors, designers, programmers, developers, professionals, and Google Technology enthusiasts together who have passion for software development with the interest of Google’s developer technology from Chrome, Android, App Engine, Google Cloud platforms, to product APIs like Calendar API, Maps API, and YouTube API in order to learn, help, innovate, network, share ideas, concerns and knowledge. It is also a group where events such as hackathon, presentation and demonstration of apps, code sprints, Android challenge, Google Map Making event which also involve using Google Photosphere, schools challenge, Apps presentations and demonstrations, Code challenge and other Google related events are organized. Various seminars are held on Google’s developer technologies; everything from Android OS, App Engine, Google Chrome platforms, to product APIs like the Maps API, YouTube API and Google Calendar API.
Trainings are done on how to use Google Web Technologies so that members can get a Google Web certification. Practical training of people on the use of Google Apps for Education like Google Search, Mail, YouTube, Calendar, Google+, Scholar, etc are done. Hands on sessions on Google Map Making which will also involve Google Photosphere are done. People are also trained on Digital Marketing and the future of business and more.
Different topics are discussed which involve topics like programming, architecture, design, development, testing, analysis, implementation, etc. The group focuses on different technologies (e.g. Java, Android, Python, PHP, HTML, CSS, MySQL, etc), methodologies, practices and roles. The group helps the members to improve their skills and provide the industry with objective insight on new and emerging technologies.
